Faux Finishes

Now, after doing hundreds of OFF the wall pieces – we spend a lot of our time doing ON the wall Faux Finishes! We provide Faux Finishes of all kinds for your walls – and your ceilings, your kitchen cabinets – just about anything that will hold still enough for a tickle of our brushes and trowels. We even offer Venetian Plaster/Italian Plaster finishes, Tromp L'oeil and murals!

We offer: Venetian/Italian Plaster, decorative stucco, suede finishes, leather finishes, faux woodgraining, faux marble, faux stone, murals, Tromp L'oeil, stenciling, striee, glazing, frottage, pouncing, dragging, color washing, ragging, sponging, stippling, etc. - just ask! Check out our Gallery tab to view some of our samples and pictures of some of our recent assignments.

How it All Started

Two Painted Ladies started out as Damsels in Distress – distressed furniture pieces and architectural elements that were "distressed" from years of living, and rescued from old properties slated for the wrecking ball, lovingly restored. We haunted the attics and basements of historic houses and estate sales for just the right pieces with enough character to fill the space and provide the function our clients needed. (Many of our clients were frustrated with the mass production of "unique" home decorating pieces now available online and in catalogs to millions, including their neighbors, and the outrageous prices for inferior quality.)

We soon found ourselves not just rescuing the furnishings, but also the antique, vintage and retro items we found on each mission. As word of our rescues spread, we found many orphans on our doorstep – pieces the owners had outgrown, but were too loved to just discard.

Oh, if only our Painted Ladies furnishings and Tarnished Ladies antiques and vintage items could talk, the racket they would make with all the stories they could tell of their colorful past! Each piece has a story, and if you catch us in our workshop, we'll be glad to share the story and tell how we acquired the piece over a cup of coffee.
